Public Talk – Friday January 11

Public Fireside

The next Public Fireside talk will take place on Friday, January 11 at 6:30pm in the Thames Valley Education Centre cafeteria (1250 Dundas St.) A potluck meal will be followed by an introductory talk on the Baha’i Faith. The presenter for the Jan. 11 event will be Adib Sedig. A description of the topic and the bio of the presenter appear below.

Title: An Analysis of Deep-Seated Structural Defects of Social Economy

Abstract:

The stability, happiness, and prosperity of the world of humanity depends on readjustment of the social economy. To this end, some deep-seated, structural defects in social economy must be corrected. This presentation is intended to contribute to social discourse about this fundamental issue. It is of importance to all who work towards the realization of a brighter future for humanity, particularly the youth.

Bio:

Adib Sedig is an 18-year-old youth who avidly studies the Baha’i writings, as well as socio-economic, mathematical, and scientific subjects. Since the age of 13, he has presented at four major conferences. He began his undergraduate studies in mathematics and economics at Western University in September of 2018.

Public Talk – An “Ear” for Prophecy – December 14th

Our next public talk with take place on Friday December 14th at 6:30pm at the Thames Valley Education Centre (1250 Dundas St.) A potluck dinner will be followed by a talk on the Baha’i Faith given by Susan and Michael DiFabio.

Summary
This presentation will provide a brief overview of the fulfilment of prophecy throughout the holy scriptures. A pattern emerges in this overview, forging a prospective roadmap for examining the claims of the Baha’i Faith. Excerpts from the gospels, Paul’s epistles, and the Baha’i scriptures provide further insight into this examination.

Bio:
Susan and Michael DiFabio met at Western University and have been married for 23 years. They live in London with their two teenage boys, Ethan (18) and Brendan (16). Susan is a dental hygienist at a local periodontal office, and Michael consults in the telecommunications industry. They joined the Baha’i community in 2005, both originating from a strong evangelical Christian heritage.

Creating a New Mind: Art, Logos and the Search for Meaning

The Baha’i Community of London is presenting a new series of “Creating a New Mind” talks. The first of these will take place on Saturday, November 3 at 1:00pm at the London Public Library, Beacock Branch (1280 Huron St.) The talk is entitled “Creating a New Mind: Art, Logos and the Search for Meaning” and will be presented by Sky Glabush. All are welcome to attend.

What? An interactive and multi-media presentation

The program includes talks, stories, poetry, live music, video, discussion, skits, and social. Breakfast, refreshments and lunch will be served to all participants.

The purpose of this conference is to develop a culture in which all consider themselves as treading a common path of faith and action towards the betterment of the world—supporting one another and advancing together, respectful of the knowledge that each possesses, and inspiring each individual to draw on spiritual truths as a source of guidance and strength.

Celebration of the Births of the Bab and Baha’u’llah

The Baha’i Community of London is planning to celebrate the “Twin Holy Birthdays.” All are welcome to join the community in these special Holy Day celebrations to commemorate the birth of  Baha’u’llah, the Prophet-founder of the Baha’i Faith and of the Bab, His Forerunner on November 1, 2016.  Details of the event are as follows:

Opening Ceremonies for the New Baha’i House of Worship Held in Santiago Chile

On Thursday, October 13, 2016, the opening ceremonies for the new Baha’i House of Worship were held in Santiago, Chile. Some five thousand Baha’is from 110 countries along with numerous invited dignitaries marked the opening celebrations in a spirit of joy and radiance. Several members of the Baha’i Community of London attended the event. This ceremony marks the culmination of a fourteen year process carried out by Baha’is around the world who laboured tirelessly to bring to fruition the vision to have a House of Worship on every continent. Live coverage of the events was streamed over the Internet.
